The Cromarty Firth Watershed Environmental Trust ("CFWET", "the Crom-Shed", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and your rights over it.

We are a registered Scottish charity (Scottish Charity SC053666) with our registered office at Robertson House, Greenhill Street, Dingwall, Highland IV15 9QR. For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at info@cfwet.org.

The information we collect

We only collect personal information you choose to give us, plus limited technical data needed to run the site:

  • Newsletter sign-up — your email address (and name, if provided) when you subscribe.
  • Contact, volunteer and "leave your thoughts" forms — your name, email address, and any message you include.
  • Website analytics — pseudonymous usage data (pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type) via Google Analytics, only with your consent.

We do not take or store any payment or card details on this website. Donations are handled entirely by our third-party partner (see below).

How we use your information

  • To send you our newsletter, but only after you confirm your subscription (double opt-in).
  • To respond to enquiries, volunteering interest, and community feedback you send us.
  • To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

Lawful basis (UK GDPR): we rely on your consent for the newsletter and for analytics cookies, and on our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries you send us. You can withdraw consent at any time (see "Your rights").

Who we share it with

  • Mailchimp (Intuit) — our newsletter platform.
  • Google Analytics (Google) — website usage measurement.
  • JustGiving (Blackbaud) — if you choose to donate, you leave this site and donate on JustGiving under their own privacy policy. We never see your card details.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else except where required by law.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
  • Enquiries and form messages: for as long as needed to deal with your request and a reasonable period afterwards, then deleted.
  • Analytics data: per Google Analytics' default retention settings.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies. Essential cookies keep the site working; analytics cookies are only set with your consent. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy; ask us to correct or delete it; withdraw consent (every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link); object to or restrict how we use it; and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. To exercise any of these, contact info@cfwet.org.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. This version was last updated on 10 July 2026.
